On the first of March 2023 French label, Olivier Rousteing’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection for women was unveiled. It was a watershed moment for the Balmain brand. The collection, which pays homage to the house’s history, features four key elements—timeless style, superb artistry, crisp outlines, and New French style—all of which are influenced by the house’s archival materials.Â
The Balmain Fall/Winter 2023 women’s collection, which was presented on the runway in front of the house’s closest friends, is a combination of classical patterns merging with bold accents and distinctive tributes to Monsieur Balmain’s own creations and original house designs, that were recreated by expert milliner (hat maker) Stephen Jones for a collection that continues evolving on a uniquely excellent foundation.
Several fabrics such as velvet, leather, satin, and sequined garments were showcased on the catwalk at Paris’ Le Carreau du Temple. The colors were predominantly black, off-white, and a few jewel tones that will undoubtedly become red carpet standards.
Balmain’s trademark strong shoulders and sculpted drapes were prominent as always, adding a savage note to the otherwise exquisite silhouettes. New styles were everywhere on the catwalk this season, from the contentious reintroduction of the peplum to the widespread adoption of bow ties.
The collection’s exquisiteness is obvious and is made noticeable in the striking designs that created a lasting impression long after the runway lights went down.
