The French luxury fashion house, Louis Vuitton and one of the world’s most famous artists Yayoi Kusama, collaborated for the second time, 10 years after their first 2012 partnership to create exquisite dot patterned items.
But unlike their first collaboration, which featured Kusama’s trademark dot paintings on top of Louis Vuitton bags, the duo’s new collection keeps the same Yayoi Kusama dot patterns, but on both the brand’s men’s and women’s clothing as well as on Louis Vuitton bags. Additionally, the designs have been created using a special technique to make some of the 3D paint daubs look “wet,” as if they had just been painted.
A GLOBAL CAMPAIGN
The Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama 2023 ready-to-wear collection debuted on January 1, 2023 in Japan and China, this was preceded by a digital campaign that made its debut in Tokyo in early December which featured many global stars, some of which are; Gisele Bündchen, Anok Yai, Jung Hoyeon, FeiFei Sun and so on.
And on January 6, a few carefully chosen items from the collection were made available at various Louis Vuitton stores around the world.
According to Delphine Arnault, Louis Vuitton executive vice president, the ready-to-wear collection will comprise over 400 Louis Vuitton individual items, some of which the brand has already unveiled.

The centerpiece of the collection is a slew of Louis Vuitton bags, each of which gives a distinctive spin to a Kusama trademark design.
There is a tote bag in pure white leather with a subtle rendition of Kusama’s beloved flowers, the Louis Vuitton Duffle, which is stunning in monochromatic paint splatters and canvas, the Louis Vuitton Square bag boasting in full-color paint and monogram canvas, and more.
It seems cliché, but there is genuinely something for every LV bag enthusiast.

Even the special edition of Louis Vuitton’s Spell on You perfume, which comes with a matching monogrammed canvas container, bears Kusama’s designs.
Although the pieces from this new collection are not cheap, they are still relatively accessible when compared to the cost of the original goods from the duo’s 2012 collection.Â
The Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama 2023 dotted collection is accessible to a larger variety of clients because of its affordable pricing.
The collection’s success is so important to Louis Vuitton that the luxury brand has included sales data in its financial reports for each quarter since the collection’s launch.
In addition to the brand’s existing storefronts, the fashion house launched two pop-ups in New York City where shoppers can buy the dotted pieces. One is at 122 Greene Street in Soho and the other is at 70-74 Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District.
